About Sargassum Check
A free sargassum map and seasonal beach planner for the Mexican Caribbean, with the evidence and its uncertainty kept in view.

What it does
Sargassum Check gives each beach we cover in Quintana Roo, from Holbox and Isla Mujeres to Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and the south, a rough sargassum estimate with an honest confidence level, the age of its sources and cleaner nearby alternatives. The trip planner compares beaches by month using seasonal tendencies and dated reports. Each beach lists hotels on or near it.
Estimates are not live observations. A regional forecast or satellite view is never presented as a confirmed beach condition, and missing data is shown as unknown, not as clear. The method is explained in How it works; the sources are listed in Data & sources.
Who makes it
Sargassum Check is the first module of BeachSignal, a beach-conditions product of Terra Continua, operated by Velkan Studio LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. Terra Continua is Velkan's physical-world intelligence brand. Learn more at terracontinua.com.
